Background Information – Spiders
There are many different species of Colorado spiders throughout the state. Most of them are completely harmless to humans. The spiders that get all the attention are the ones that pose a risk to humans. The most notable spider is the Western Widow Spider (Black Widow) because of its toxic venom. They are black in color with a distinguishable red hourglass on the underneath side of the abdomen. These spiders are quite common in this area but are not aggressive unless you are messing with them. Other honorable mentions include the Hobo Spider and the Brown Recluse. Neither of these spiders inhabit Colorado, but on occasion have appeared on stored belongings from people who have moved from other parts of the United States where these spiders are common. The funnel weaver spider is commonly mistaken for a Brown Recluse spider, but the funnel weavers lack the iconic violin marking on their back. The most common spiders we encounter are funnel weavers, ground spiders, cobweb spiders, cellar spiders, yellow sac spiders, wolf spiders, and banded garden spiders. Almost all spiders are predators and they hunt insects and other arthropods. In most cases, they are completely harmless to humans and are considered nuisance pests because of the webbing they create and the fear they provoke.

Treatments for Spiders
Treatment for spider control includes exterior granulation in landscaping and turfgrass areas to target immature life-stages. In addition, a preventative insect barrier is applied at the foundation, around windows, doors, eaves, and cracks and crevices in walkways and driveways. On the interior we will perform a crack and crevice treatment throughout the home, targeting nesting sites and other common harborage locations. The technician may choose to add insect monitors, in addition, to speed up the reduction of the spider population. On the exterior of the home, a web removal service will be performed to knock down all the webbing within reach, to make the home or business look cleaner, and to further reduce future activity. Treatments for spiders also help to target ants, crickets, earwigs, millipedes, centipedes, and pillbugs, and they are all included in what we call our general pest package. As a customer, you have the choice between a ONE-TIME TREATMENT, MONTHLY TREATMENT, EVERY OTHER MONTH TREATMENT (6 treatments annually), or a CUSTOM TREATMENT (4 treatments annually).
Service Expectations
All NOCO Pest and Wildlife Control spider control services come with a 60-day interior warranty regardless of what program you select from above. For customers interested in trying out the service to see what to expect, we recommend the ONE-TIME service. For commercial accounts and the food industry, we recommend the MONTHLY service. As a customer, if you cannot tolerate a single insect or spider inside, we recommend the EVERY OTHER MONTH service because it provides a constant barrier on the outside and protects the structure throughout the year. If you like the benefits of having a pest control service but want one that is more economical, then a CUSTOM service is your best option. The CUSTOM service includes 4 services throughout the year, beginning in April and ending in October. This provides complete coverage during the spring, summer, and fall, and we allow mother nature to do its part during the winter. This may leave the customer a little vulnerable to re-infestation during the winter months, but we can always add an extra service in-between with a simple phone call.
