Bed Bugs are a pain, and they have a pretty scary reputation. Some people believe there is no effective treatment for Bed Bugs, and this couldn’t be further from the truth. While there are some highly effective treatments out there, Aprehend Bed Bug Treatment is a game changer! Aprehend is a biopesticide that targets bed bugs specifically. It’s a ready-to-use spray that is a fungus that targets the insect’s cuticle. It lasts for about 90 days, and if applied appropriately, it is absolutely devastating to bed bugs. Numerous case studies show the effectiveness of the product. At Northern Colorado Pest and Wildlife Control, we use this professional-grade product available to only licensed pest control operators. We take pride in providing our customers with results-based pest control. Our philosophy is to not just provide the service but educate the customer so that you can help yourself prevent future infestations.
What is a Bed Bug?
Within Colorado and much of the United States, bed bugs have made a dramatic resurgence since the banning of DDT in 1972. The bed bug is an ectoparasite that feeds off human blood. These insects seek shelter in cracks and crevices around your bed, couch, chair, etc. These insects are flat, oval-shaped, mahogany reddish brown in color, with adults measuring around ¼ in length. Other pest relatives of the bed bug include the bat bug and the swallow bug. These insects look almost identical to the naked eye, and true identification needs to be done under a microscope. The biggest difference between these insects, aside from their physical characteristics, is their host. Bed bugs feed off humans, bat bugs feed off bats, and swallow bugs feed off swallows. However, bat bugs and swallow bugs will bite humans but cannot survive and reproduce off human blood. Once we identify the type of bug, we can decide if Aprehend Bed Bug Treatment is the best option.
The Bed Bug stigma
The worst thing about these insects is the bad stigma they represent. When someone thinks about bed bugs, they commonly think that they are associated with being dirty. Although this can be true, we commonly see these insects in very clean homes and businesses. In other parts of the world, these insects are very common, and they are a way of life. Another common way to get bed bugs is through travel to other states or countries around the world. These insects are not known to transmit any diseases to humans. Bites from these insects are very similar to those of a mosquito, as they itch and get swollen. Some people have a pretty aggressive reaction to them, while other people seem to have no symptoms at all. These insects do not cause any structural damage to the house or your belongings, but the feces (frass) from the insects can leave stains like fly feces.
What sets Aprehend Bed Bug Treatment apart from the rest?
According to the FAQs on Aprehend, “The key difference between Aprehend® and other biopesticides developed for use in agriculture is the formulation. Aprehend® is a unique, ready-to-use formulation that contains a special combination of oils that enable the application of the Beauveria conidia (spores) to surfaces where they remain attached until encountered by a bed bug. This proprietary oil formulation ensures that Aprehend® is effective even at very low (< 20%) relative humidity. The conidia remain dormant on the sprayed surface and will only germinate when they come into contact with a bed bug. This is how Aprehend® remains effective for up to 3 months after application. All agricultural formulations are designed to be diluted in water and sprayed at high volumes directly on insects that are feeding on plants. Once conidia have been in contact with water, they germinate quickly, and if they are not in direct contact with an insect, they will die.”
Why should you choose us to help with your Aprehend Bed Bug Treatment?
We are a locally-owned and family-run professional company that specializes in a wide range of pest and wildlife control, removal, and services. We are here to help you with inspections, treatments, and prevention of pest invaders to your home or business, whether you’re located in Greeley, Loveland, Fort Collins, Denver, or throughout the Northern Colorado area and up to the Wyoming border. At Northern Colorado Pest and Wildlife Control, we practice Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which is a broad-based approach to pest control where pesticides are used as one of many tools, not the only exclusive tool. The approach focuses a lot on exclusion, habitat modification, and education to eliminate the pest problem. Our goal is to earn your business every time we provide a service to you. We have a lot of experience with bed bugs and are happy to get rid of them for you with the Aprehend Bed Bug Treatment.
What are the service expectations?
Most bed bug infestations are eliminated in 3 services or less. The largest variable in the number of services is the amount of customer participation and the level of infestation. Extreme infestations might require more than three services, and, in some cases, prepping for treatment is unrealistic. In those situations, we might recommend a heat treatment. We are advocates of heat treatments as a tool for bed bug mitigation but do not believe that this treatment alone will eliminate the problem. This is why we love Aprehend Bed Bug Treatment. Once the technician feels the bed bugs, bat bugs, or swallow bugs have been eliminated, the service comes with a 30-day interior warranty.
